The European Waste Oil re-refining Industry re-refines waste oils back to base oils, with a quality comparable or superior to virgin oils. With lubricants and oils being a necessity for most mechanical processes, GEIR members play a key role towards achieving EU recycling and resource efficiency objectives.

A sector group of UEIL, the Union of the European Lubricants Industry, GEIR represents the interests of the European waste oil re-refining industry association. Re-refined waste oils are an important source of base oils for the independent lubricants industry, ensuring a closed loop process for a hazardous waste, in line with the European Union’s resource efficiency and recycling objectives.

With the help of Cambre, GEIR implements a communications program on a variety of topics centred on environmental policies. With direct impact on GEIR members, European recycling and waste management policy is of highest relevance. Cambre supports the client by closely following issues and gathering intelligence as well as providing strategic advise. The implementation of an advocacy program includes also event support and representation of GEIR at various industry specific platforms.

GEIR is a trusted and well-established stakeholder in all policy debates affecting the European waste oil re-refining sector and is frequently consulted on EU policies and initiatives.
